E3 is coming soon, and we can hardly wait to see what’s in store! We recently posted the full E3 schedule, which is slated to run from June 12th through the 15th. With huge reveals and announcements on their way, we want to take a moment and offer some thoughts on what we predict and hope to see over the coming week!
As a new writer at GameTyrant, I’m eager to hear some thoughts from our seasoned contributors. Fitting for E3, GameTyrant’s experts cover a wide range of games, platforms, and genres. Each of our writers has their own unique niche of experience in gaming news coverage and reviews, so I’m sure they’ll have some interesting ideas!
I’ve asked each of them to join me for a brief interview and overview of what’s expected (and hoped!) for this event. Let’s dive in!
First, I’d like to know everyone’s general predictions. To be clear, this isn’t what you want to see, but rather what you are fully anticipating will be shown, teased, or announced.
What are you expecting to see this coming week?
Dean: I expect to see news for Hogwarts Legacy from EA, RE:Verse from Capcom, and House of Ashes from Bandai Namco.
Nate: I’m expecting to see a lot of Star Wars content. We’ve already heard from Lucasfilm Games that there are a bunch of new titles in the pipeline. Most notably though, I’m assuming Ubisoft will debut a trailer for their Star Wars game. There’s also sure to be great content coming out of Xbox following their acquisition of Bethesda so there’ll definitely be some new titles from those reaches.
Dustin: Definitely agree with Dean on the Hogwarts Legacy front along with Microsoft bombarding us with all sorts of Bethesda-related news. The slew of Battlefield 2042 details and Call of Duty shooter-related news should be hitting as well.
Wow! If these predictions hold true, we’re in for a truly epic year of gaming! This is just what we’re expecting based on teasers and/or leaks! Personally, I think Microsoft is poised to steal the show this year. They certainly have the highest expectations to meet, with mounting pressure to add first-party exclusives to their lineup. For months we’ve heard folks at Xbox say games are coming and announcements are on their way. In fact, earlier today on Xbox Wire, Satya Nadella and Phil Spencer posted about the future of Xbox, saying they are fully committed and all-in on gaming. Let’s hope that means more great games!
My next question is:
What isn’t expected but would be both fitting and plausible for a surprise announcement or reveal?
Dean: I'm hoping to see something about the Demon Slayer game announced for an NA release in English. Also, some news on what Kojima Productions has been working on would be great.
Nate: Rockstar Games is more than due on some kind of announcement for their next release. I’m assuming that it won’t be GTA 6 as 5 is getting a face-lift for next-gen this year. I’m putting my money on a new Bully game.
Dustin: There are so many possibilities with series that are either dormant or there haven’t been any surprises for a while. Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Witcher, GTA, etc next-gen exclusives would be awesome.
I totally agree on all of these. I’m surprised nobody mentioned Splinter Cell! It seems like every year there’s a prediction and rumor of a remake or sequel from this beloved franchise. Maybe this is the year!
Finally, I’d love to know what each of you really hope to see?! Consider this your wish list, but be realistic!
What longshot announcement are you dying to see?
Dean: Sitting on a bit of a horror-game fever following Little Nightmares 2 and Resident Evil Village, I would love to see some news on an Evil Within 3 or even that the Resident Evil 4 Remake won’t be VR-only, as it is currently listed to be.
Nate: First-person Star Wars game with gameplay mechanics in the same vein as Chivalry II. Let’s get it going! A more realistic answer? I’d love to see some new Disney games. I know that there are a couple of older ones on Game Pass and maybe the mouse is willing to work with Xbox to produce some. It would literally blow me away.
Dustin: All my hopes are longshots but even if one of these came true, I would be ecstatic: Bloodborne Remake/Sequel, Elder Scrolls 6 teaser or trailer, anything Witcher 4 related, and finally, anything about a high resolution/pro version of Nintendo Switch. Is this too much to ask?
These are all awesome predictions! Let’s hope that some of these come true and also for a few surprises! I’m hoping for more big announcements and additions to Xbox’s Game Pass. Ubisoft Plus on Game Pass, anybody? Yes, please!
Thanks to all of you for sharing your thoughts. We’re looking forward to all the news and updates coming this week!
