Take a little walk to the edge of town and go across the track with Curve Digital’s release of Peaky Blinders: Mastermind when it comes to PC and consoles on August 20th. Along with the release date announcement, we got a new trailer commentated by Thomas Shelby himself, Cillian Murphy.
The game takes place immediately before the start of the first season, as Thomas and his family discover a sinister plot to destroy their business. The game is being developed by FuturLab in collaboration with the creative and production teams behind the Peaky Blinders series (Caryn Mandabach Productions), so we can expect a game that is truly faithful to the story and characters we know and love. James Marsden (Game Director at FuturLab) spoke about his experience with the game saying, “It’s been an honour to be trusted with the Peaky Blinders license,” he continues “our team has created a game that reflects the heart of what makes the show compelling: Tommy Shelby’s ability to manipulate friends, family and foes in the pursuit of his master plan”.
FuturLab went a step further by collaborating with the band known as Feverist, who helped with the soundtrack from season 1. The band was tasked in creating an original album for the game, with two of the tracks available to listen to now. Peaky Blinders always has some really great music in each season, so to say I’m excited to hear this soundtrack would be an understatement.
On the gameplay side, it’s a puzzle-adventure game where you’ll carry out various strategic scenarios using the members of the Shelby family, using their own specific traits. There’s also a time manipulation element involved as well, that allows you to try different methods until you get the best outcome for all corresponding family members. You’ll have to get the strategy down pat, because all family members are working their part of the plan at the same time.
Fans of the series will want to take a look into the game for sure. I can’t wait to devise a plan with the members of Shelby Company Limited and help them build their book of business up to where they were in the first season. Hopefully we’ll get to see more of Danny Whizz-Bang and those infamous guns everyone was looking for.
Peaky Blinders: Mastermind will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam on August 20th. You can pre-order the game on Xbox One and Steam for 20% off up until its release date. If you pre-order the game on PC, you’ll receive the game’s official soundtrack for free.
