Xbox and Tango Gameworks came out swinging at today’s Developer Direct presentation with a brand new, surprise game announcement: Hi-Fi Rush. But while Tango Gameworks is known for their horror games like The Evil Within and Ghostwire Tokyo, Hi-Fi Rush promises to be an altogether more colorful experience.
Hi-Fi Rush is a rhythm action game set in a vibrant world that’s entirely synced to a musical beat. This music comes from the MP3 player embedded in the chest of our unexpected protagonist, wannabe rockstar Chai. When Chai signs up to be part of an experimental robotic enhancement program, he gets more than he bargained for when his MP3 player gets thrown into the mix as well.
Now on the run from the executives of the Vandelay Corporation, Chai must fight off hordes of robotic enemies and powerful corporate leaders using the newfound beat driving his every movement. The rhythm action aspect of the game rewards players for moving and attacking on the beat with more powerful and stylish attack combos. Tango also pulled out all the stops for their musical backdrop, pulling licensed music from renowned acts like Nine Inch Nails and The Black Keys to give Chai suitable accompaniment for his adventure.
And in the final, shocking twist, Tango Gameworks revealed that Hi-Fi Rush is available today! That’s right, Hi-Fi Rush is available now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It’s also included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, so go get your rock on!
