11 bit studios have officially announced Frostpunk 2, the direct sequel to the highly acclaimed, BAFTA-nominated survival city-builder. Few details have been revealed beyond the announcement trailer.
The upcoming sequel is one of three games currently in development by the studio. Details are scarce on the other two upcoming titles. The successful indie studio, however, has made a series of other recent announcements. The developers shared news they are moving all future game development to Unreal Engine, and they also announced the arrival of Console Edition DLC packs.
Releasing in 2018, the original Frostpunk game was a hit on PC, and later when the Console Edition was released the following year. The game has received a variety of free additional post-launch content as well as three paid expansions. It surpassed 3 million copies sold by its 3 year anniversary, in April 2021.
In addition to the big news of a sequel title, you can try the original Frostpunk for free on Steam for a limited time between August 12th and 16th. You can also enjoy the game as part of an Xbox Game Pass subscription for console and PC.
