My goodness, I don’t think I ever could have guessed the staying power GTA V would have in the gaming world! Launched back in September of 2013 on Xbox 360 and PS3, GTA V was impressive for the aging hardware. A re-release of the game with updated visuals and functionality (first-person mode) would follow for PS4 and Xbox One in 2014 and a PC port in 2015. Now as part of Sony’s PS5 reveal event, the first announcement was that GTA V would be coming to Sony’s new system in 2021 in an “Expanded and Enhanced” capacity.
Seriously 8 years on, by the time the PS5 version releases, and GTA V is still one of the most played games out there! Thanks to Rockstar continuing to update and overhaul the online portion of the game players always have something new to come back and do. Speaking of GTA Online, as a bonus for today’s announcement Rockstar is going to be giving away $1 Million in GTA Cash every month from now until GTA V is released on PS5 for all PS4 players! Sadly no PS5 footage was shown for the game during today’s live stream, but I can’t wait to see what gets changed over what is available today. No word has yet been given if this new version of the game will make its way to Xbox Series X.
What do you all think about GTA V making the jump to next-gen on PS5?
