Wait a second! I thought there already was a collection of arcade games on the Switch? Well, there is. The Capcom arcade bundle called the Capcom Beat’Em Up Bundle is already on the Nintendo Switch. This collection was released in 2018 and is currently for sale at $19.99 on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Personally, this is one of my favorite collections because it has some of my favorite arcade games in one place. One of the more interesting concepts in this title is the option to play either the English or Japanese versions of the games. You can even play these arcade games online.
Capcom’s new collection Capcom Arcade Stadium comes with two free games and can also be played online. The two free games include 1943 and Ghosts ‘N Goblins. The entire collection can be viewed on Capcom’s site. There are four games that exist on both packs. These games include the following:
Pack 2
Captain Commando
Final Fight
Pack 3
Battle Circuit
Warriors of Fate
What if you are looking for Street Fighter II and its many variants? Capcom has you covered here and other places too! The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection has more than just Street Fighter II, but again, you may have duplicates.
Each pack is $14.99 or you can buy the entire collection for $39.99. Personally, I have most of these games on either the Retro-Bit Super RetroCade or AtGames’ device, so I will wait for a good sale, if I decide to buy this collection at all.
I paid $20 for the AtGames, thanks Amazon, and $60 for the Super RetroCade back when it was in stock, where the combined prices cost more than the entry of the Capcom Arcade Stadium, but those other options include more than just Capcom games. It is logical to assume that many other people have done the same. That leads to $39.99 for a new pack, where many of the titles may already be part of another collection. The question here is: is the cost of the new Capcom pack reasonable, especially if the titles are in another, previously purchased pack?
I do not see this happening, but it would really be a good gesture of goodwill towards the fans if these previously purchased packs could be used as a deposit towards the newer; more encompassing pack. What do you think?
