I'm a firm believer in the idea that gaming is the true future of entertainment. In the past decade alone gaming has grown so exponentially. We have AAA games that have higher budgets than some studio films. Indie games built by single developers can immerse a player in a new world, and even net those who made it cold, hard billions! So to hear that Konami's blockbuster title, Metal Gear Solid V not only passed opening day for Avengers: Age of Ultron but actually doubled it? Well that's just astounding news for the future of gaming as an entertainment medium.
With as highly praised as MGSV is, it is certainly not surprising that it netted a whopping $179 Million on release day globally. Comparing that to Ultron's $84 Million globally really puts things in perspective. Not to mention Adobe's Digital Index shows that Metal Gear Solid V has almost twice as many mentions on social media than the second Avengers movie. Gaming is no longer just a pass time for the lonely nerd as the digital age slowly makes huge geeks out of us all.
