With yesterday’s announcement that Devil May Cry would be coming to Switch this summer, there were a lot of unanswered question regarding the release. Would this version of Devil May Cry be a simple port of the current HD release or would it be a completely redone endeavor? Would we see the game released as part of the Devil May Cry HD Trilogy collection like previous re-releases of the game? Well, thanks to the official Japanese site for Devil May Cry we have a little more insight into the games release for Switch.

First off from all of the shared screenshots it is clear this is the same Devil May Cry HD release that has been kicking around since 2012. It also appears that this is going to be a standalone release and not part of the usual trilogy release. This may be part of a plan to release the three games on the Switch but in an attempt to get them out sooner they are being released game by game. If so I am more than happy to not have another copy of the awful Devil May Cry 2. The last interesting tidbit of note from the site is that Devil May Cry is going to be released as a digital only title. Maybe if all three games eventually make their way to the platform we could see a physical release of the HD trilogy like on other platforms! Eh regardless a classic game is making its way to the Switch this summer and it will give more players the opportunity to play it so what could honestly be better than that!
