A couple of days ago, Nintendo officially unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2 on a livestream to the world. Fans have had mixed reactions to the reveal, particularly with relation to the price. However, U.S President Donald Trump also announced tarrifs that would impact trade with various countries.
Update: An official statement from GameStop:
According to The Verge, the introduction of these tarrifs could mean the pre-orders getting delayed to adjust for the new policy or a change in the price of the console itself. Many fans are already upset about the price and to add even more to the price will further hamper Nintendo and their ability to make the Switch 2 a success.
Below is a quote given to the publication by Nintendo: .
Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.
While the launch date is not impacted, further increasing the price and bringing it closer to that of the current PS5/Xbox Series prices could put Nintendo in some trouble.
