Paradox Drops Three New Games At Summer Game Fest

Paradox Interactive announced three upcoming games at the Summer Game Fest, giving a mix of different titles that are all taking place out in space. Let’s take a look at each of the announced titles.

Stellaris Nexus

The first of the titles is a spin-off of their hit 4X sci-fi grand strategy Stellaris. The upcoming Stellaris Nexus will be a shorter, downsized version of the original intended for hour-long games with a focus on a multiplayer experience with friends. Unlike Stellaris, where an average game can last for 10-30 hours on average, Stellaris Nexus will focus on delivering a similar strategic 4X grand strategy gameplay experience against up to 5 other players condensed into about an hour of gameplay.

Hopefully, Stellaris Nexus will provide an excellent way to regularly enjoy pickup or spur-of-the-moment 4X Stellaris gameplay with friends where it would have previously taken days of time as well as planning ahead for time openings to complete a full game. It also looks promising as a good way to introduce new players to the genre.

Stellaris Nexus has no current release date, but it will be available on PC via Steam.

Next up in the list of Paradox announcements was that Paradox Arc and SquarePlay Games are releasing a new sci-fi open-world survival crafting game called Space Trash Scavenger. In this game, players will grab their jet pack and explore procedurally generated asteroid fields, derelict spaceships, and abandoned outposts. As they build up their base, players will encounter enemies and obstacles as they collect trash and materials around them and use it to craft their home in Zero-G as well as a wide variety of gear.

Space Trash Scavenger will be available sometime in the future on PC via Steam.

Last but definitely not least, we have the announcement that Paradox has teamed up with Nimble Giant Entertainment to create the newest installment of Star Trek brand video games with the new upcoming title Star Trek: Infinite! Paradox didn’t tell us a lot with the teaser trailer, we only got a cutscene of a United Federation armada encountering a Borg mothership… however, at the very last moment of the trailer, we got one shot of a Star Trek Universe battle map that looked eerily similar to something out of Stellaris.

So, given this and the fact that it’s a Paradox game and we’ve got a battle map looking teaser, it looks like Star Trek: Infinite may possibly be the first 4X grand strategy entry into the Star Trek game catalog. Hopefully, it will have fewer bugs and issues than previous entries. We’ll officially find out more info about Star Trek: Infinite with its full reveal on June 16th, 2023, which is, of course, Picard Day.

Star Trek: Infinite has no current release date and no announced platforms.
