It’s super common to see video games based on well-established films, books, and TV shows. The Touhou Empires is a real-time strategy fan game based on the Touhou universe, a setting that has been a haven for bullet-hell shoot em’ ups. The game is sanctioned by Neetpia and Phoenixx. A demo for the game is coming up to get fans hyped that’ll show off the many units like cavalry, archers, and grimoires that enact an area of effect on any enemy forces that get too close to the goal.
The game will have players build impregnable fortresses utilizing the Hakurei Shrine and call on the aid of over 30 Touhou heroines like Reimu and Marisa. The Scarlet Devil Manor will allow for the creation of an unstoppable early-game army which will come in handy in the single-player campaign, where corruption is looming over Gensokyo and must be identified and resolved. There is also a 3v3 multiplayer skirmish mode. Different factions are available to choose from, each providing their own unique features.
The Touhou Empires will be released in Q1 of 2024 for PC via Steam. The demo will be available during Steam’s Strategy Fest from August 28th to September 4th.
