Originally announced last week, the PS5 showcase event that was supposed to take place on Thursday, June 4 has been delayed. Due to the protests taking place around the United States, as well as the rest of the world surrounding the death of George Floyd, Sony has decided that now is not the time for such an event.

The official statement from their social media:

"We have decided to postpone the PlayStation 5 event scheduled for June 4. While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard”.

No rescheduling plans have been announced for the event, but we will let you know as soon as details are let out into the wild. The next-gen console is still slated for a Holiday 2020 launch, but we will have to wait and see if that changes with the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing.
