Capcom released the launch trailer for Resident Evil 4 and we thought it wasn’t possible to garner even more hype for this title and yet here we are. The trailer shows off some juicy story bits and a gameplay montage, but more importantly, it ends with a surprise reveal of The Mercenaries mode launch date. This free DLC expansion is arriving on April 7th and will finally allow players to add even more replay value to this excellent title.
For those unfamiliar, The Mercenaries mode in the original game pits players against a never-ending horde of enemies, with the only mission of killing everything in sight. Points are earned based on the type of kill and getting multi-kills in quick succession. This mode was also featured in RE Village and allowed players to play as multiple characters. In the original title, players could play as many characters from the RE4 campaign, such as Krauser and Ada.
Unfortunately, Capcom has been tight-lipped on details for the free mode so we do not know specifics at this time. However, we would be surprised if the mode did not feature multiple characters to play as. Thankfully April 7th is just around the corner and players won’t have to wait too long before trying it out for themselves.
Resident Evil 4 is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
