Veteran indie horror publisher DreadXP has announced that aquatic horror Fishing Vacation has made the skip across to the Nintendo Switch. Developed by Teebowah Games, Fishing Vacation was originally created as part of the pretty appropriate Fishing Horror Jam 2020, before the title was extended into a full standalone title.
The game follows a keen would-be angler who heads up to his uncle's cabin at a mountain lake, with ambitions to bag some massive fish and have a good time. Unfortunately, there's something a bit strange about the lake. There's no sign of the protagonist's uncle, and it's possible to catch strange shapes flitting through the trees in the midst of a fishing frenzy.
There are multiple different endings, and over thirty different species of fish to catch, if players can keep their eyes on the lure and not on whatever is lurking out in the woods. It seems like hooking someone's old shoe is not the worst fate waiting out on the lake. There's an opportunity to fish, explore the seemingly abandoned area, and dig for bait, or secrets, in the earth.
This is all presented in a Game Boy style, complete with various different retro color schemes. Fishing Vacation is available now for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
