On Top Of The World
Since the mid-2000s, I’ve tried to stay on top of the GPU world, constantly offloading my current cards to share some love with fellow gamers, which was in this case, an excellent EVGA 3090 Ti, to obtain the latest and greatest in PC gaming. I don’t do it for bragging rights or clout but rather to relish the latest graphics technology available. Some years have been more exciting than others as marginal FPS increases do little to excite but in years like this, high-end cards launch and change everything. To say that the RTX 4090 is a massive jump even over the already excellent 3090 Ti, would still be a massive understatement. The 4090 + Sony’s latest and existing PC titles = Absolute Gaming Bliss.
Cold As Ice
First off, the MSI Suprim Liquid X RTX 4090 we are testing with is absolutely fantastic in every way. Easy to install, a breeze to set up, and a rock-solid performer at low temps really seals the deal for us. While some pure air-cooled 4090s are absolutely massive in size, the Liquid X has a fairly slim form factor coupled with closed-loop water cooling, I believe it’s the best both of both worlds. Either way, running on an 850w Seasonic Platinum PSU, we’ve had zero issues, even though a 1000w PSU was recommended when paired with our i7-12700K CPU.
Hot As Fire
With Sony’s recent offerings on PC, it’s never been a better time to have the absolute hottest and best looking titles available. With UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Spider-Man Remastered, and even God of War to put the RTX 4090 through our gauntlet of quality and FPS tests, these games and never looked or played better. With full 4K and over 100FPS easy on every title, the RTX 4090 shines. It is an absolute beast with the latest DLSS 3 options clocking in at over 200 FPS in some areas in full quality 4k! I’ve never seen such a raw horsepower jump in one generation of cards.
Even though the RTX 4090 is a powerhouse, coupled with these Sony titles is a dream as they are absolutely jaw-dropping and these PC ports are some of the best out there. With Nixxes and Iron Galaxy studios overseeing the PC version, the future for Sony on PC looks brighter than ever and we can’t wait to see what’s next.. (Bloodborne please?)
