Did you play the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games back in the 2007ish era? If you didn’t you missed out on some of the best post-apocalyptic first-person shooters out there! Ok, they aren’t really post-apocalyptic per se but whatever that’s beside the point. anyways, we were treated to 3 games in the series between 2007-2009 and in 2010 a sequel was announced to be released in 2012. That sequel would end up getting canceled and a new sequel was announced in 2018 with a release set for 2021. Unfortunately, since then not much has really been heard about the title leading to speculation that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 had once again been canceled.
Well, the good news is it hasn’t! It seems Epic Games accidentally leaked some things it wasn’t supposed to forcing the official S.T.A.L.K.E.R. twitter page to release an announcement that the game was still in development and is now using the Unreal Engine. The post also discusses why this move was made to further help the modding community with simplicity. You also gotta love that last bit where they basically say hey, this is about the game and the engine, not exclusivity deals. Apparently we will hear about those later. Either way, I am just happy to know that the game is still coming!
