Gaming fans can now go online and vote for who they think should win this year’s Game Awards categories. Hosted by, Geoff Keighley, the event will be taking place on December 10th at 6:30 pm EST on just about every streaming platform and will highlight this past year’s greatest achievements in gaming. While it has been quite a tumultuous year, The Game Awards has positioned itself in a way that will bring all gamers together for a night of levity. It is taking place on the release day for Cyberpunk 2077 so hopefully, this doesn’t impact the viewership too much.

There are 30 different categories to vote in, with the newly added “Innovation In Accessibility” category. To me, this is by far the most important category that everyone should be aware of. It’s important to me because we all use games as a means to escape reality but for a while, a portion of gamers didn’t get a fair chance of doing the same. Because of the advancements in games’ accessibility features and new peripherals, we are getting to the point where just about everyone can play games no matter what their situation. These aspects need to be recognized so that developers continue to add them and develop them even further.

The nominations are pretty good overall. Of course, we see Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us: Part II listed in just about every category but I think everyone expected to see them all over the place. I’m really excited to see Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s inclusion in the action/adventure category. It had gotten snubbed for any awards last year but it managed to squeeze its way in there. Whether you consider it a 2019 or 2020 title, you have to admit that it’s something truly special. I don’t want to make assumptions as to who will win GOTY but I’d say it’s a pretty tight race between 2 of the titles. If you’d like to cast your votes for the nominees, you can do so right here!
