There is a vast number of video games being made today, many of which are from indie development teams. While it can sometimes be difficult to find the good games in this crowded online library of titles, there are some that earn their place on the list. In fact, they do so well that they are able to branch out to more platforms and for the three games below, their platform expansion was definitely earned.
Winds & Leaves by TREBUCHET
Originally released as a PSVR exclusive earlier this year, Winds & Leaves is a relaxing, nature-focused virtual reality title that presents a world in need. In a style that is similar to solving puzzles, players are tasked with regrowing the various forests needed to bring a dried-up world back to life. To do this, you will need to match the correct tree seeds to the correct soil and even start mixing seeds in order to make new trees.
With the distance you can travel based on how much nature you have successfully brought back to life and how much nature energy you have in your reserve, you need the forest as much as it needs you. And now, players with a PC VR can join in on the revival action as the game heads to Steam on December 8th. It will be compatible with the Oculus Rift, Valve Index, HP Reverb, and more VR gear, allowing for anybody with a VR setup to dive in and save the nature-starved world.
Unbound: Worlds Apart by Alien Pixel Studios
After having a successful launch on Steam earlier this year, Unbound: Worlds Apart is coming to both generations of PlayStation on February 9, 2022, and Xbox consoles on February 11, 2022. This is thanks to their partnership with publisher Digerati who is handling the digital release and publisher Perp Games who is working to release a physical version of the game on PlayStation 4 and 5.
Console players can get ready to hop in the shoes of Soli, a young mage who must venture through his dark fantasy world if he hopes to master his powers. In order to survive the journey and unravel the mysteries of his world, he will need to use a mixture of his powers - mainly of which is his ability to open portals into another realm. With the clever use of the properties the other worlds provide, such as inverse gravity, time manipulation, super strength, and more, he will be able to survive and grow as a powerful mage.
Tandem: A Tale of Shadows by Monochrome Paris
Not long after the initial release on Steam, Tandem: A Tale of Shadows is heading to console in both digital and physical formats. Working with their original publisher Hatinh Interactive and teaming up with Funstock, this dark puzzle game will be available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on March 25, 2022. They are even taking pre-orders for the Collector’s Edition for those interested.
It’s up to you to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of a famous magician’s son, Thomas Kane. Work simultaneously as the headstrong girl Emma and a strange living teddy bear named Fenton to solve strange puzzles and make your way through a very peculiar mansion. After all the clues have led you to his large home, moving deeper within these strange walls is the only way to uncover the truth. With clever use of light and shadow, the unlikely pair is sure to be able to overcome what puzzles lie ahead.
