Ubisoft Is Teasing A New Tom Clancy Game

Earlier today Ubisoft took to Twitter to announce that they’ll be revealing a “brand new game in the Tom Clancy universe” tomorrow, July 19th, at 2PM EST. The teaser included in the tweet doesn’t reveal much, simply showing the Tom Clancy logo getting papered over with graffiti. The tweet itself includes the tagline “things are going to get wild,” implying something a little outside the norm for the Tom Clancy franchise.

IGN got a closer look at the new game, revealing a brief clip that shows off first-person shooter mechanics in an arena-like setting. From the footage, it looks like the game will involve some of the staples of the competitive shooter genre, including killstreaks and escort objectives. It also appears to have some futuristic elements as evidenced by the player popping a translucent shield before shooting at enemies through it.

While the Tom Clancy games are most well-known for being mostly realistic, military shooters, Ubisoft seems keen on diversifying the franchise over the past few years. The Division series involved a world-altering pandemic that prompted the activation of highly-trained sleeper agents around the country to keep order. The recently delayed Rainbow 6: Extraction is a cooperative, tactical shooter where players have to complete objectives while fighting off hordes of mutants.

We’ll see what Ubisoft has in store for us with this new Tom Clancy game during the full reveal tomorrow, July 19th, at 2PM EST.
