It has been officially announced today that this year’s entry in the long-running WWE video game franchise has been canceled. The news was announced by WWE’s Interim CFO Frank Riddick during an investors call.
“There’s not going to be a launch of a game this year. ”
Despite the news of the cancellation, the official WWE games Twitter account has announced that they have plans to share on Monday about the future of the franchise.
Honestly, with how terrible WWE 2K20 turned out it doesn’t surprise me that this year’s game is being axed. The reception to 2K20 put a lot of negative spin on both 2K Games and WWE so giving the new 2K team an extra year to rebuild won’t be a bad thing. Who knows maybe when the franchise comes back we will have a good wrestling game again! Ok, I am having a hard time really believing that but I want to be optimistic so… yeah, it will be great!
