The rumors are true: Xbox and Bethesda are hosting a new event titled “Developer_Direct” that aims to show off new games coming to the Xbox ecosystem. This comes after a week of social media buzz about the prospective event and what gamers can expect to see there. Xbox has released a blog post detailing many of the things the Developer_Direct will cover, as well as one major release that won’t be present.
The Xbox and Bethesda Developer_Direct will kick off on January 25th, 2023 at 12 pm PT/3 pm ET, and will feature new info on several titles from Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda. Among the titles confirmed for the showcase are The Elder Scrolls Online, Redfall, Minecraft Legends, and Forza Motorsport. We’ll get a closer look at new gameplay and features for each of these titles, as well as a follow-up event covering the reveal of the new chapter for The Elder Scrolls Online.
While no other titles are outright stated to appear at the event, the blog post does use language that suggests the door is open for information on other upcoming games. The one title that won’t be in attendance, though, is the eagerly-anticipated Starfield. The blog post confirms the rumor that a “standalone show is in the works” for this massive RPG in order to “dedicate the proper amount of time for a deep dive.”
Xbox’s first-party releases have been a little quiet over the past few years, with minor hits like Pentiment and Grounded finding success among smaller audiences. This event looks to be their attempt to kick off 2023 with a bang by providing new details on some exciting new releases and building anticipation for a year with multiple, AAA launches.
The Xbox and Bethesda Developer_Direct will air on January 25th, 2023 at 12 pm PT/3 pm ET on the publishers’ YouTube and Twitch channels.
