One of the more egregious facets of the North American arm of the YU-GI-OH TRADING CARD GAME is that both the artwork and titles of cards have been subject to censorship. Perhaps to tone down suggestive themes, nudity, alcohol references, graphic violence, religious symbolism, and other taboo concerns. If you ask me, this consistent dumbing down of the artistry ultimately serves no one. It makes egghead nerds, like me, mad because it ruins art and it doesn’t “protect the children” because no one under the age of 18 plays Yu-Gi-Oh.
Continuing their trend of occasionally tossing The Western World a bone, Konami has offered players the opportunity to get their mitts on English language versions of cards with their OCG artwork unaltered. The cards being offered through this promotion are:
Foolish Burial
Super Rejuvenation
Edge Imp Sabers
Offerings to the Doomed
Super Dreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max
Solemn Judgment
The directive is given to participating hobby stores (designated “Offical Tournament Stores” or “OTS” locations) is to offer a Lost Art promo card after the customer has purchased a minimum of $30/£30/€30 worth of factory sealed Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG products.
This promotion starts on January 1st, 2020 in North America; February 1st in the UK! Card quantities will be limited! Check your nearest trading card and tabletop gaming hobby store!
