The release of Hello Goodboy, an endearing interactive fiction adventure game about the spirit of a boy and his canine guide, is set to roll onto Nintendo Switch and PC on May 25th.
Developed by Rolling Glory Jam and published by Freedom Games, Hello Goodboy follows Iko, a boy who recently crossed into the afterlife. With no memory of his previous time on earth, he must look to the advice of Coco, a talking dog and the best source of information, as well as an expert receiver of belly rubs.
There's even a 'Goodboy-o-meter' there to fill to the top using attention and toys.
Iko and Coco's journey will take them through places that seem both new and familiar, and let them meet with many different colourful characters. Then comes the choice of who to spend time interacting with. Time is ticking, and helping some people will mean leaving others' issues unresolved.
There are dozens of recently deceased to interact with and many choices that players will need to make in their playthrough, and multiple endings available to explore.
This is all wrapped up in some wholesome, illustrated, picture-book-style art direction.
Hello Goodboy is out on May 25th, available for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
