In its current push to bring all versions of the game to parity, Developer Studio Wildcard has released a new expansion to dinosaur-themed survival game ARK: Survival Evolved onto the Nintendo Switch for the first time.
ARK: Aberration is the second expansion, after the first, Scorched Earth. It takes place in an ARK that had been damaged and lost its surface atmosphere, leaving the surface uninhabitable but creating vibrant pockets of life in the underground, where creatures have been mutated by radiation.
The expansion gives a vastly different experience than the typical game of ARK, as the player is plunged into the depths of the vast, subterranean cave system. Here it’s possible to find new creatures. Players will have to adapt to living under the massive roof and get used to managing the dark.
It’s not only wild creatures players will have to contend with either. Some truly terrifying, and more sapient horrors are waiting down in the depths of the caves.
Aberration is set to be available free to owners of the ARK: Ultimate Survival Edition, or the ARK Season Pass.
ARK: Aberration is out now on Nintendo Switch. ARK: Survival Evolved is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Android, iOS, and PC via Steam.
